Isn't that so disappointing? I'm doing more beans this weekend, and I'm a little nervous--completely irrational, I know. I love pickled peppers, but I've never made them. Sadly, we got our peppers in so late this year that they're only about an inch long!

Thanks for giving me credit! You could use breadcrumbs instead of rice sometime. Your bread is so delicious.

We love dilly beans, too! I've had two jars explode on me. It was a batch of peppers last year. I ran out of the hot vinegar solution, and silly person that I am, I added cold vinegar to the jar. The cold vinegar sank to the bottom of the jar, ad when I put it in the canner, the two jars blew out the bottoms within a minute or two.

That does look yummy! I keep saying I'm going to stuff them, but haven't done it yet. Funny thing is I just did a tv segment yesterday morning, and I stir-fried patty pan and lemon squash. Here it the clip and the recipe: http://www.themorningblend.com/videos/101465624.html

Looks like a great event! It's a wonderful point what you say about looking at your place through the eyes of others and seeing what you are doing right. It's SO easy to look at every square foot as a project waiting to happen, and especially when you throw young kids into the mix (we're expecting our second in a few months), it just seems daunting!

When others come by our place for a visit, they marvel at what we've created here, and sometimes we just have to sit down and pat ourselves on the back for doing the best we can!

That's a great way to use them. I would've never thought of that. Looks delish! Thanks for sharing with all of us. Take care, from KY, and have a great weekend.

Nice! I love the hinged roof, that's brilliant. I will totally borrow the idea when I'm out of the gosh-darned city and have more garden space.

Not dreaded, that horseradish! We planted it there, but are planning to scoop it out--all the little thready roots--in the spring. On the other side of the bed, the mint has taken over a plot at least 5x15 feet....

I was just thinking of building one of these - with the added bonus that you could cover it in chicken wire for the summer and keep the varmints out!

It's a beauty! Warning: On the other side of the raised bed, the leaves appear to be those of the dreaded horseradish. Insert some kind of deep barrier between the new bed and the horseradish. Those roots find a way into the next county.
